Recognizing the rapid growth and strong potential of the natural health products market, DNP decided to expand its activities and create a Natural Health Division in 2006. In April 2006, DNP acquired the cholesterol lowering assets of a small Canadian publicly traded company, Magistral Biotech. The product, branded HEP-40, was already sold in Canada under the trademark Libracol. In June 2006, DNP licensed the Canadian HEP-40 distribution rights to CK LifeSciences (Santé Naturelle Adrien Gagnon in Canada). In the fall of 2006, DNP acquired a private company based in Quebec, ISM Biopolymer, which marketed a product for joint pain and arthritis called OligoFlex. |

In 2007, DNP developed several products internally (weight loss product, psoriasis cream, inflammatory bowel disease product) and acquired additional natural products, including a novel prebiotic (PreBiox), a novel probiotic delivery technology (ProBiox) and the rights to a second technology for inflammatory bowel disease (XP-506) from Advitech. In June 2007, DNP also acquired distribution rights to XP-828L from Advitech, a psoriasis product that is taken orally, has patent protection, has clinical evidence, and is endorsed by a leading authority in the field of psoriasis. |
